Mount Snowdon Completed

On 9th September 2017, supported by a team of 12, I successfully climbed to the top of Mount Snowdon, whilst wearing full stormtrooper armour!

It certainly wasn’t easy though. Steep paths, rugged terrain, large rocks to clamber over, thick fog, near zero visibility, howling winds, lashing rain – all of which makes the climb difficult for anyone. But in stormtrooper armour which limits movement, and a helmet which reduces visibility, it was extremely tough going.

When I finally got to the top I paused, and then began to freeze, because whilst the constant effort has kept me warm during the ascent, at the top the howling wind and freezing rain very quickly cooled me down, and under the armour I had only a compression suit on, and my body temperature plummeted.

My team supplied me with hot chocolate to try to warm me up, but it was clear that other than a quick photograph at the top, the next thing was to start back down – no rest for the dark side!

Both on the way up and the way down it was certainly entertaining to see people’s expressions as a stormtrooper loomed out of the fog and scrambled past them! Of course there were plenty of photo opportunities, and a lot of people donated money as we went.

Not an easy path normally, but in stormtrooper armour?

It was an amazing experience, and one I’m very glad I completed, and I think was done well. However, it was not without its dangers, and I’m not planning on repeating this any time soon!

Thank you to everyone on the team for your support. It was a fantastic day, and we raised a good sum of money for the children’s charity Nice 2B Nice.
