The Hull 10K Completed!

0

On June 8th I successfully completed the Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k in a time of 1:15. I was very pleased with this time as the day was especially hot, with temperatures in the mid twenties. Plenty of other runners in shorts and a t-shirt were complaining about how tough it was running in the heat, and it certainly was my biggest challenge of the day. Wearing 25lbs of armour on top[ of a thick black jumpsuit, with a helmet which blocks off virtually any chance of fresh air is not ideal in such conditions!

The route itself was great, and of course extremely convenient for me. I was able to don the armour at home and simply walked down to where the race was to start at Queens Gardens. As you can imagine there was a great deal of support from people as I approached the city centre.

Before, during and after the race there was a great deal of support, with many people asking to have their photo taken with me, which of course I’m always happy to do.

A special treat for me was to have my eight year old son, Jack, waiting for me at the finish line. He is the reason I chose to run this year dressed as a stormtrooper, as he is quite probably one of the biggest Star Wars fans there is! He’s quite chuffed at having a real stormtrooper for a dad.

As usual there were various photographs of me taken by people, including the Hull Daily Mail and those who had a selfie with me or took a photo and uploaded it to Twitter. Remember, if you do have a photo of me or one of you with me please upload it to Twitter and tag me in it – @stormruns.

Here are a few of the photos from the Hull 10k:
