Injured Trooper

1

Unfortunately almost every runner has suffered from some type of injury at some point, and although I’m a big strong Imperial Stormtrooper sometimes things happen which cause problems with running.

At the start of September I had a knee injury which meant that I had to withdraw from the BUPA Great North Run. I have postponed my entry to next year, but needed to take some time to recover.

By the time the Bournemouth Marathon rolled around four weeks later I had successfully recovered from my knee problem, and was running again. However due to the break in training right before such a major running event I decided that it would be foolish to compete this year without feeling fully up to speed. Again this event has been postponed to next year.

It was certainly very disappointing to have to take this decision as I was really looking forward to both races. I have done the Great North Run before, and know how much fun it is. As I was born in Bournemouth, and as my family all live in Bournemouth I was especially excited about taking part in the second ever Bournemouth Marathon too.

The good news is that I am fully recovered and am enjoying training hard again. I will also definitely be doing both of the races I missed this year in 2015, along with many other runs of course.

At the moment I am now fully focussed on training for the Great South Run in Portsmouth on Sunday 26th October.
